At a glance

The established in 1827, is located over three campuses around Toronto (St George, Scarborough and Mississauga) and is Canada鈥檚 largest university. Toronto is well known for the breadth and quality of its programs, research facilities and student services. In the QS World University Rankings 2024, the University of Toronto ranked an impressive 21st. The St George campus is situated in the heart of downtown Toronto, about 30 minutes walk from Union Station. It is a very walkable and compact campus, made up of seven colleges. The various colleges' architecture is a mix of: traditional, 1970s and modern with each college having a library housing books relating to the specific subjects. There is also a huge central library. Queen's Park is in the centre of the campus creating a very green feel to the area.

Please note the following restrictions when considering the list below: Chemistry - full year only and not available on programmes which already contain an External Placement; History - Modern History only - Single and Joint Hons; Physics - usually full year or Semester 2 of Junior Hons or Semester 1 of Senior Hons; Psychology - full year only.

Places available : University of Toronto have four semester places at the St George Campus and 2 semester place at Mississauga or Scarborough in the academic year 2025-26.

Places available may vary from year to year depending on the exchange balance. Numbers for the following academic year will be confirmed at the information meeting.

Living there

Getting there and getting around

Students should fly to Pearson (Toronto) International Airport. There is no airport pick-up service arranged by the university, however, there are many options for travelling to the campus and these will be detailed in your acceptance pack.

The city of Toronto has a variety of for travelling around such as buses, trams and subway. To travel further afield students can make use of the excellent train (VIA Rail) and air links.

Accommodation

Housing is not guaranteed at the St George campus. It is guaranteed at the Scarborough and Mississauga campuses. All residences include a meal plan that is included unless otherwise indicated.

As soon as you receive your acceptance letter, follow the instructions and apply for housing. Most exchange students to the St George campus have to rent off-campus accommodation.

Student services and orientation

is a wonderful resource for international students on campus. They have a number of advisors who can support you as you adjust to life in Canada and also host a number of events throughout the year. The CIE has also provided for exchange students going to Canada.

Living costs

The cost of living in Canada and, in particular, in the Greater Toronto Area is high.

Your choice of accommodation is a major factor in establishing the cost of living as a student.

All students are automatically enrolled in the , which is mandatory for all international students. There are some exceptions, which can be found on the .
